Under the CiviCRM components section of the Joomla backend, the left hand menu points to:

http://birminghamenvironment.org/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contact/search&reset=1

and the top CiviCRM menu points to

http://birminghamenvironment.org/administrator/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contact/search&reset=1

The top CiviCRM menu works fine but the left hand points the browser back to the frontend.

Any ideas why?

Background
CiviCRM worked fine on my testing server. It seems to have gone wrong when sending it to the production server even though (I think) I followed this tutorial http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location.

i'm assuming this is civicrm 2.1

most likely your CIVICRM_UF_BASEURL in administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm.settings.php

is invalid. can you please set it to:

define( 'CIVICRM_UF_BASEURL'      , 'http://birminghamenvironment.org/administrator/' );

once you fix that, you will need to follow that tutorial again
