can't login - won't pass try_auth

When I put in my openID, all that happens is the try_auth.php page refreshes.

Now i have the issue with openid figured out and can enter it, but I get:

You don't have permission to access /civicrm/standalone/finish_auth.php on this server.

I can't get past this.

Make sure all files under civicrm/ have correct permissions set (755).

Did you get it past this stage? I just get a white page when I type in my openid.

What is your OpenID? Some OpenID providers have implemented the spec in a strange way, and CiviCRM doesn't yet handle it correctly (notably Yahoo and Google fall into this category).

I gave up with standalone and now have a Drupal install. Did not really understand what OpenId is all about.

SOLVED - Turned out I was using the wrong version of php for the OpenID code, so I had to downgrade to Xampp 1.7.1 which has php 5.2.9

answer was here: http://civicrm.org/node/615

Now i have the issue with openid figured out and can enter it, but I get:

I have the same issue once I enter the OpenID on the "CiviCRM First User Setup" page. The "localhost/civicrm/standalone/try_auth.php" hangs on a blank page reporting Done on the status bar.

What was the solution?

My development set up:
  • CiviCRM standalone 3.0.1
  • Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
  • Xampp - xampplite-win32-1.7.2
  • Firefox 3.0.14

Apache logs after first login page processing:
access.log
::1 - - [20/Oct/2009:00:46:01 +0100] "POST /civicrm/standalone/try_auth.php HTTP/1.1" 200 - "http://localhost/civicrm/standalone/index.php" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.14) Gecko/2009082707 Firefox/3.0.14 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)"

error.log - no entries.

This is my first post so many thanks to the core team and the community for such a great system.

Edited to add:
found this:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Installation+troubleshooting+-+blank+pages

Working through it.

1. "insuffient memory for PHP (should be at least 24M)" - phpInfo() reports "memory_limit   128M" under the "Core" table.

I am having this same problem but there are no php errors and I have logging on.

All I get is a blank try_auth.php page
