Updating to latest alpha
July 19, 2007, 11:12:11 am
Is there a preferred way, that isn't svn updates, to update to the latest build of the 1.8 alpha? Without losing data...

Thanks!

no. We normally do a release every week. We are hoping the next week will be a beta release. If you need fixes in between, deploying from svn is the simplest option (u dont need to lose data when deploying from svn). Note that some db changes do happen during alpha releases, we do try to keep these changes to a minimum

So if I would do a merge of files, replacing older ones with newer ones, that should work.  And I assume if there is a db change, an error will get thrown and I can go see what table needs to be updated?

BTW, were can I get SVN access?

i just updated 1.7 -> 1.8 and the database stayed intact after running the appropriate script in in the '/sql' folder. i needed to delete the template cache before the pages showed normally though.
