I'm using Drupal 6.9 and CiviCRM 2.2 Beta.

In Advanced search I do a simple search on the name field for Smith and it returns 5 results, and the search query Name or Email LIKE 'Smith'

In Search builder I create the same seach and I get  "No matches found for: Last Name LIKE smith ...AND...Contact Type - 'Individual' "

In a search profile form the the same search I get "No matches found for:Last Name LIKE %smith%"

Has anyone com across this? I simply cannot get Search Builder to return any results for anything.

I think I should have made things a bit clearer.

The thing is I can't so a search on Name in Search Builder nor can I do the same on a linked profile search. In other words I cant use Search Builder or a linked profile to search on the name field or any other field. They simply don't work at a very basic level and deliver the search no records found messages I detailed in my first post.

Any ideas?

Ive discoverd the problem. It's me being an idiot. Doh!

I imported a load of records into CiviCRM using the Import function and mapped LAst name and Surname the wrong way round. The Find search finds the records because it searches both first name and last name. The search build obviously doest
