Writing and installing a custom report?
February 22, 2009, 09:48:25 am
If we needed a report that doesn't exist, is it possible for someone to write a custom report and upload it to our CiviCRM so that the new report shows up on the list of available custom reports within CiviCRM so that all an operator has to do is fill out the required field variables and run the report?  i.e. like adding a new report on this list in the demo: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/contact/search/custom/list?reset=1

Thanks, Dan

Yes, you can write your own Custom Search(Report). Check http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Custom+Search+Components

Thanks, that is encouraging. I then saw were a few people had posted the custom searches they had written. Very cool. I take it then that I could hire someone to write a custom search for me by checking out the Professional Services listing? Dan

i suspect this might be too small a job for most of those firms. You should try it and see if anyone is interested. I've also asked eileen to send u mail. She has a fair amount of experience with writing such code

Hi Dan,

I tried to e-mail you per Lobo's suggestion to see what you required but your e-mail bounced

Hey guys,

I'm trying to write a Mailing summary report that can hopefully supplement and/or replace the current civiMail reporting mechanism. I found Eileen's step by step doc useful, however the attachment and screenshot are broken links.

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC32/Custom+Reports+(How+to)

Is it possible to fix the links? I would like to go through and understand the reporting structure and that would be helpful.

I also wouldn't mind to document whatever I learned through this process.

Cheers!
