Functionality questions

Hi,

We are a non-profit educational center that has several different programs. As I am struggling to get civicrm to run on joomla (running in XAMPP), I feel I should inquire whether civicrm can handle the following:

1) We have some workshops with multiple days, where applicants can choose between alternative dates for each of the sessions (for example, four days of instruction, but three different dates for each of these days). Can civicrm manage this sort of registration (we require attendance at all four days and exclude attendance at the same day more than once). If so, could applicants go online and change a date (unregister for a particular date and then be forced to choose another date)?

2) We have series of workshops with pre-requisites (you have to take A to be eligible for B). Can civicrm keep track of whether a user has the pre-req for a course, check it, and alert users if they don't have the pre-req? As this would be a new system, we would probably want an over-ride (a box that an applicant could click to state "I have taken so-and-so). We would want this to get stored somewhere, perhaps as an unvalidated pre-requisite "positive" (the prereq data could be yes or no and validated or not validated??).

3) Can civicrm import information on previous attendance (we have this in a mysql database). I presume this would require some hacking and slashing??

4) The series of workshops have concurrent events. Does civicrm check to see if an applicant/registrant is registered in overlapping events. We want to exclude this possibility, as we have had nightmares in the past for some students (they paid and expected to attend up to three completely overlapping events and were horribly sad that they could only take one)!

5) Oh yeah. Can you use magic to ensure we have full enrollment in every course we ever hold? Times are tough, and registrations are down. We want to avoid layoffs if we can... :) :P

Thanks for any help.

Bruce
