Allow to dates for custom date fields
February 25, 2009, 10:10:46 am
It would be great if custom date fields could optionally include to dates. Specific instance - when tracking grants that my client has received from foundations we want to be able to track the start and end dates of the grant period.

Not sure why you wouldn't want to handle this with 2 custom fields ...

That's how I'm handling it right now, Dave.  :)

However, I'd argue that the Grant Period is one piece of data, not two, just like an event's start and end time adds up to one piece of data (event time or event duration.) But maybe there's no functional difference between using two custom fields and using one, other than it taking a minute or two longer to create two separate custom fields instead of just one? I'm trying to figure out where there might be an actual functional difference; could having the fields separate make searches based on the two fields work differently (for better or for worse) than searches based on one field that includes both dates?
