PHP4 to PHP5
July 20, 2007, 08:49:35 pm
I have loaded the PHP4 version of CIVICRM 1.7stable as I had a few old apps that were not compatable. I have now upgraded or replaced all these old apps and can now change the site to use PHP5, so I can get CIVIMAIL.
What is the best way to replace the php4 code?

Mike

1. backup your current site and database

2. untar the php5 codebase over the php4 codebase

3. restart the server ensuring it is php5 :)

4. everything should work as prior

Note that CiviMail has some other fairly heavy system requirements. You might want to check the CiviMail installation page etc

Is that really all there is to it?

None of the files need to be put back in place? Like civicrm.settings.php?

I'm doing a 1.8.11536-PHP4 to 1.8.11536-PHP5 switch for a client...
