Separate Joomla administration from CiviCRM
March 02, 2009, 07:13:20 am
I am looking to add CivCRM to and existing Joomla  Site. There will be a Joomla administrator and a separate CiviCRM admin. I do not want the CiviCRM admin messing or even seeing the the Joomla admin functions. Does anyone know if the CiviCRM functions can be separated from the Joomla ones? Or even the the CiviCRM admin set as a front end function under Joomla? Any advice would be most welcome. David

Hi there,

Not a Joomla expert but I think I am right in saying that because CiviCRM appears as part of the admin interface in Joomla, there is currently no way of seperating CiviCRM admin rights from Joomla admin rights.

It might be that this problem is solved on the release of Joomla 1.6 which has much improved ACL.

perhaps if you install a single civicrm out of joomla and uses it in joomla with a wrapper link you should have two separate admin ?

of course it's boring to export / import all your joomla member's to include in civicrm
