Restarting from scratch
March 07, 2009, 09:45:38 am
I have downloaded 2.2beta. Installed now and seems to be all there. I did install sample data. Because the Drupal is a new install there are no users. I want to now begin to use civicase. Is there a sample install for this and where can I go to get started? I am unfamiliar with civiCase.

you will need to follow these directions:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/CiviCase+-+Using+the+Sample+Configuration

please edit the wiki and fix the instructions if you notice any mistake

I notice that in the sequence of adding the sample data that the CiviCase component is enabled later in the proces:

Configuration tasks are:

   1. Create the configuration directory.
   2. Copy sample configuration files.
   3. Load the sample mysql file.
   4. Enable the CiviCase component.
   5. Verify permissions.

I have already enabled the component. Does this matter?

No it seems to be OK (so far) - Drupal seems to be OK as well. I am going through the CiviCase tutorial and have added in the preprepared examples Adult Day Care and Housing Support. I see there are no cases included. However, not knowing Drupal or CiviCase it's quite mind blowing trying to get a good mental overview of everything that needs setting up.

We are trying to setup a simple Information and advice scenario where a new client rings up and the client details, conversation details and outcome are recorded with maybe a followup and/or referer. I have configured a Drupal user but am not sure within CiviCase where that user is. Any pointers as to what the next steps are appreciated (I have not played with any xml files yet but can see on the All Cases dashboard the summary showing zero in all boxes). Is there a way of copying and adapting the housing support one to read "Info & Advice" from which I can proceed with?

Sorry, not as advanced as other posters (truly an end user!).

PS it's a pity the demo site does not seem to have CiviCase.

You might want to consider hiring someone from http://civicrm.org/professional/ to help you get upto speed and set your organization up with CiviCRM/CiviCase

Thanks for the suggestion. I have now managed to get a Drupal system going with the CiviCase example. The fog is clearing slowly!

CiviCase with the sample configuration is now part of the demo site:
