CiviCRM and point-of-sale systems
March 08, 2009, 01:39:22 am
Hi - given civicrm has been through some big jumps since this post - http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,489.msg1940/topicseen.html#msg1940 - am wondering

a/ would Dave's response be the same today

b/ have any other developers worked on integrating point-of-sale systems with civicrm.

SCENARIO.

membership based organisation has an 'attraction' that people including members visit. Members get in cheap, or free. Entry is via  a point-of-sale system and they want to be able to retrieve information from the POS system re the value / added value members provide (eg whether they bring a friend by each visit, whether they buy product…and what product they are purchasing, etc, etc) so they can better segment  membership and tailor specific offers to them…also use it as a means of building the donation element through our membership.

Any thoughts?

dave is on vacation for the next week, so i'll answer for him :)

a. yes, not a lot of changes in that aspect of the system

b. not heard of this

the scenario seems more of how you structure the data to be stored in custom groups / fields and then loading them in
