Cancel a running mail job
March 10, 2009, 09:50:59 am
Hello,

I'm wondering if someone can provide a bit more information as to how to cancel a mailing that's already running.

Hitting cancel just does not work for us.  I've managed to put the breaks on further distribution by deleting the cron job, but this still doesn't answer the question of how prevent the rest of the mailing from going out once the cron job is restored.

Is there a db query that will un-queue the rest of the scheduled mails?

Thanks!

Chris

Also... will manually setting the job status to "canceled" in the DB prevent further processing?

We’ve had a couple reports about this problem recently, so I filed CRM-4246 and we’ll investigate and fix.

I just upgraded 2.2.2 from 2.2.0 just to get the fix related to canceling a running mail job. It still doesn't work.

We are still on 1.9, but cancel does not seem to do anything, however delete does seem to work, unfortunately the whole job is then gone.

IMO delete will be effective when there are number of mailing jobs in queue and u hit delete for mailing who's job is not started by cron.
If job is under execution though user delete or cancel it, mail will get delivered to all recipients.

Now in CiviCRM v2.2 user can stop job execution at run time by hitting cancel or delete and mail will not get deliver to remaining receptions.
You might want to check issue : CRM-4246

thanks
