Authorize.net payment processor - is a Silent URL or "callback" URL required?
March 10, 2009, 10:43:48 am
Have been using GoogleCheckout, but now am using Authorize.net .    With google we use googleNotify.php as a Callback URL.   Is anything of this sort required using Authorize.net?  Authoirize calls it a Silent URL.  Couldn't find any reference to a callback in the Authorize.net vs. Civi docs but just wanted to double check, anyone know?  Thanks!

No, with authorize.net your site sends all the information to authorize.net using https (CURL) and receives an HTTPS response with all the information it requires (success / failure) there is not another call.

Authoirize calls it a Silent URL.
Does this mean Authorize.net does offer it as an option? Or did you mean google?

Google calls it a Callback.  Authorize.net describes what seems to be a similar function and calls it a "Silent URL".  In the Authorize.net docs they describe a Silent URL as "sometimes called a 'callback'" so it must be the same thing.  There is a spot in Authorize.net AIM to enter a Silent URL.

But if it is not necessary to use a Silent URL (aka Callback) with Authorize.net then we are cool.  Thanks.

Hi

Callback URL

currently we required callback url when page redirect to the processor site, then come back to our site, in this scenario, we put the contribution/participant record in pending mode, after the callback come from the processor server with success status , we put the same record in completed status mode.

Currently in CiviCRM PayPal standard and Google Checkout have callback URL

Authorized .net

Silent URL (callback) needed when authorized .net is configured for Recurring mode. since v2.1 onwards we disabled the recurring support (because it wasn't ARB [Automated Recurring Billing]).
Currently Silent URL (callback) -ARB feature is not available in CiviCRM for authorized .net

Does this mean that CiviCRM supports recurring automated billing for PayPal and Google checkout?
Eg from an admin point of view I would expect a complete update of civic records as necessary.

cheers

Hi
for recurring contribution , we only support PayPal standard.

For more info...
In v3.1 we are going to support recurring billing / contribution using PayPal Pro.
