Importing fields that are longer than CiviCRM permits - no warning of trimming
March 10, 2009, 12:17:21 pm
Hi - just did a successful import including Company Key which is a 40-character code. It looks like the External ID is limited to about 36 characters?

The import did not indicate this was longer than the field allowed.

Just went to do Member Import using External ID - and all failed - due to no matches on External ID .

Not a big problem for me as I can probably just TRIM and re-enter - but made me wonder if other data I import that may be longer than the field permits is also being truncated without a warning.

cheers
