Once record is edited, returning donor can't donate
March 10, 2009, 02:09:19 pm
We're testing civicrm in-house before going live with our donor base. One of our donors had two records in the database; we edited them into one record, and now it appears that the donor in question can't make another donation; when she goes to the form to donate, she gets an error message which says:

Please correct the following errors in the form fields below:

    * The email [username]@gmail.com already exists in the database.

Any thoughts?

that is strange. not sure what is happening and why :( so a few random questions:

1. are you enabling the create cms user option?

2. did you change the fuzzy/strict dedupe rules

3. when does the error appear

1. no, we are not. however, our tester who is getting the issue is a cms user, is logged in, and has drupal permissions to access all of civicrm.

Let me work on getting answers to the other 2 questions... :-)

In answer to 2.  and based on the answer to another query we have, I changed the strict individual rule to a fuzzy rule. That is I just changed the drop down box from strict to fuzzy.

That did not fix our problem so I changed it back - drop down box from fuzzy to strict.

The other query, which we were also advised would probably not be fixed till 2.2,  was that entering a name and email into honoree fields on the contribution forms overwrote the honoree's name, if they existed on our database with the same email.

your tester should test as anonymous, not as a logged in user

The error is valid since the tester is trying to change his/her email address to an address that already exists in the system

Hi, just want to make sure I understand: you're saying anonymous tester just to try and clear up the problem, not that our website users can never be logged in when they donate?

I have tested as anonymous - that is with my membership details and not with my website logon (different emails and website logon has a nick, not my credit card name). I got no error message and no duplicate or new record was created.

Is that what you mean by anonymous tester?

I made two donations using the two forms we have operating (one for members which forces the input of a name and address, one for donors where name and address is optional based on our org rules).

Both donations went as expected. When I returned to organisation from Paypal on the second donation I got this error message:

warning: urlencode() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /var/www/drupal/sites/all/modules/civicrm/CRM/Core/Payment/PayPalImpl.php on line 385.

This did not happen the first time.

most likely the second error is because the State value was not filled in. This will be fixed in the next release of CiviCRM v2.1
