civicrm on mobile

we are a ngo in india catering to other ngos in the country. they usually login into our platform (civicrm on drupal) and select product donations. now often it happens that ngos do not have connectivity in their own location and have to rely on internet cafes. i was wondering if a mobile friendly version of our platform can be made as detailed in this article i found on the internet:

http://www.mikeindustries.com/blog/archive/2005/07/make-your-site-mobile-friendly#more

it basically involves having a separate domain for mobile users to access and then stripping off the images, etc.

Would there be any issues with drupal or the shopping cart, etc. ?
Is there a cleaner and stable way to doing this?

your expertise is much needed !

Thanks.
