Peculiar Problem with Advanced Search After Custom Fields Changed
March 17, 2009, 01:09:54 pm
I've been working on relationships today.  I was experimenting with custom fields and settled on adding a new type of relationship.  Which I mis-spelled and subsequently corrected.  I had created a custom relationship category and then deleted it.

After putting in a bunch of new relationships I went to search for them in advanced search to see how it worked.  After clicking on "relationships" in advanced search, the section opened with the already deleted custom field.  So I checked again and yes, it's not listed in the list of custom fields.  And then I went to search and the list of relationships still showed the mis-spelling.  Checked that too, and yes it is corrected.

When I tried to search for constituents with a relationship to me I got this error:
"Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred. "
"Could not find valid Key"

Can you shed some light on what's happening?  Is there a simple fix?
thanks

hi,

It would be good if you try to replicate here : http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/
If replicates, please provide exact steps.

thanks

For reasons that are a mystery to me, it is working fine today.  It fixed itself on it's own.

OK, this mystery gets deeper.  It was working yesterday.  And now it is not today.

This "Could not find valid Key" error is specific to searches that involve the change log.  All other searches I tried work fine.

I tried duplicating this on the demo site, but could not.  The same searches on my site returned the key error but performed fine on the demo site.

When this error first appeared, the advanced search form retained the outdated fields that had just been deleted.  I tried restarting my machine, but still the form showed the fields that were not there anymore.  The next day the outdated fields were gone and everything worked fine.  I could make searches with no errors.  Perhaps the server itself had to be rebooted??  Now the form continues to look fine, but I am getting this key error again.  I tried restarting my machine to no effect.

This morning I tried the exact same search I did yesterday successfully and this morning I got a key error.  I made no modification to the code or files in this time.

I do have keys enabled on my site.  Are they on the demo site?
