membership end date wrong and random

I set up a membership type just for a "Call for Papers" which starts February 1st 2009 and ends June 18th 2009 and allows non-members to sign up and submit papers for an upcoming meeting. The problem is that I've tried a few different ways to set the date in the "Membership Types" (currently set to "Duration: 4 months", "Period Type: fixed") but it doesn't translate over properly when someone signs up for the "Call for Papers" and the email is sent out. Furthermore, it's not even consistent!

EX:
I created two tests within minutes of each other (both going to my email address but both having different random info populating the fields).
Here's the top of the email reply for the first one:

Here's the top of the email for the second one:

Membership Type: Paper Submission
Membership Start Date: January 1st, 2009
Membership End Date: August 31st, 2012

So if I have it set up for a 4 month fixed than why is the end date 2012 and even more alarming, why is the date April 30th for one and August 31st for the other?

I would be just as happy if there was a way to just not include the Membership Start/End dates (for this one Membership Type) in the email if that's at all possible.

thanks!

Hi,

Have you noticed this problem just after creating membership type and go Membership Signup? or you have tested it 2-3 times and then noticed.
Because Only for first time it signups for membership and after for every time , it does Membership Renewal ( according Membership duration & period type ).

Membership End Date: April 30th, 2012
Membership End Date: August 31st, 2012
even more alarming, why is the date April 30th for one and August 31st for the other?

I am not sure but if you have done membership signup for same contact, it has renewed previous one as per membership type ( for your case Fixed & 4 months)
Just observed your Membership End Dates  April 30th, 2012 + membership renewal (4 months) =  August 31st, 2012

As I said before, if you have done this before ( having membership renewal many times for same contact), this might happen.
ie. If you have done membership for 10 times then though membeship start date isJ anuary 1st, 2009,  it will calculate membership end date  April 30th, 2012.
need to confirm..

Shailesh
