Only Importing 15 records
March 18, 2009, 09:49:29 am
Hmm - not sure what has happened here. I have been importing from a CSV file with no problems. Now every time I try and import I only get 15 records even though there are nearly 200 in the csv file.

Any thoughts ?

Hi Damien,
First, a request: It would be very helpful to those trying to help you if you would update your forum profile with the version of CiviCRM/Drupal?Joomla that you are using.

1. Are you getting any error messages?
2. How about the report that appears on the screen after the import? How many records does it say were imported?
3. Is it possible that the other records are being flagged as duplicates and therefore not getting imported?
4. If none of the above makes sense please provide more specifics about what you are doing.

Let's start with answers to these questions and take it from there.

Cynthia

Profile Updated.

Strange this - I tried several different methods of importing and the same result every time. I removed an extra column I had added without any content that I was also importing and it worked fine.

I had a similar issue today.  The import would only recognize 15 records until I removed unnecessary columns from the spreadsheet.  Then it would hang up at 31 records which I suspect was related to some columns having no entries.  It worked fine when I performed the import with only the columns that every contact had data in.

Just tried to re-create the issue on the demo machine with sample data and the function worked correctly.

I experienced the 15 user limit on uploads as well a few days ago, running CiviCRM 3.0.1 in Drupal 6.15.  Everything seemed to work in terms of dealing with duplicates and such, but only 15 records would go at a time. I would delete the top 15 rows in the spreadsheet and try again, and each time it would take the first 15 records and then stop without error.

Puzzling, yes.  I'll have to keep in mind the idea of eliminating columns that aren't essential and see if that helps.

I am running into a very similar issue.  We are migrating from a drupal 4.x server to 6.x and converting to CiviCRM 3.1.5 in the process.  As I am importing my contacts into Civi via. a csv export from the old drupal server I have a couple of export files where the import is only pulling in some percentage of the file like the last one that only worked on 86 records out of 500.

In my case the problem appears to be caused by records in the csv file with 8-bit characters. If I remove those entries the import completes successfully.

As an example, the following record causes the import to stop:
Quote
"xxxx","someone@gmail.com","Ã<96>zgür","PekçaÄ<9f>lıyan","64.xxxx. 7/8 xxxx","","Ankara","Turkey","06510","Turkey","","","System Administrator",""
