Looking to install for Non-profit
March 19, 2009, 11:35:03 am
Hello,

I'm working for a Canadian Non-profit that is looking to installing civiCRM very shortly.  I have a list of questions that if possible would like some quick answers to.  I have already answered many myself already but would like a 3rd party answer in order to present them to the organizations board.  I know the Board would rest easier with answers from this forum.  Please let me know if I should be posting elsewhere.  Any help would be appreciated and thank you.  Questions so far are as follows:

•   How do users handle forgotten passwords? Is there an on line self-service function for the on line GUI and for the CiviCRM

•   How are CiviCRM updates / patches be installed?

•   how easy will it be to include search engine optimization (SEO) techniques with the CiviCRM layout

•   How are we currently sending the emails out? Do we have a mass email application? Can this now be handled through CiviCRM?

•   Can we accept membership subscriptions and donations through our web site with CiviCRM?

•   Can users renew their subscription through a login account in CiviCRM?

•   Is there an on line process or phone number for users when they have problems with their on line experience.

•   Can you create customized queries for civiCRM?

•   Being open-source is it possible to integrate civiCRM with Quickbooks?

Cheers,

Swivels

The questions were answered above, I have nothing more to add on that front.
I have one point that certainly helps me with customers: because it is open source software there is not a large treshold for usage. What I mean is that if a customer wants to have a test project with closed software there is usually a license price before you can start. With open source, the cost of a trial is the cost of services required and internal hours, so it is easier to start with a small sized trial.
