Imported file with 53 Contacts, got 152

We just upgraded to 2.2.  I imported one data file with individuals, and it seems to have generated multiple records for individuals.
Also, it generated different numbers of duplicates for different names, one name has 4 duplicates, and another has 9, yet another has 6.
Anyone have a clue what this may be?

You might want to try out at http://demo.civicrm.org/
Also it would be good if you provide import field mapping and attached data file ( CSV ), that will help us to replicate issue.
Of course any private / personal info should be disguised.

I had no problem with importing it on the demo.
I am attaching a sample of the import file.
I am not importing these fields: Subject,   Grades ,Vegetarian?   ,Payment,   Payment Type,   Payment Processed?,   Confirmed?,   Notes - They are being imported later with the event information.
The School phone and address are being used as work address, and the other address is being used as the main, primary.
The school is being imported with the custom relationship "Is student/teacher of>Organization".

As demo is working smoothly :)  I am suspecting you are running some older version of CiviCRM.
It would be helpful if you update your forum profile with related to CiviCRM, CMS, Mysql and PHP versions
So we will debug exact civicrm version.

hi

I did create custom relationship between individual and organization (school).
after this I imported contact as individual with custom relationship and with given import mappings from attached .csv file.

It is working fine for my local install for v2.2.0

If still issue is persist, need exact steps to replicate.

We have this installed on several sites, but are only having issues with one.
However, it is reported by the consultants hosting the site that it is a bug.

civicrm_participant does not seem to control for this -- it seems like a bug to me.

I imported the records first before adding them to an event. Imported them to update duplicate records in the database. Then searched for their source code and added them to the event.
