upload file error

trying to upload any sort of file results in the following error:

Code: [Select]
We could not move the uploaded file client_sample1.csv to the upload directory /. Please verify that the CIVICRM_IMAGE_UPLOADDIR setting points to a valid path which is writable by your web server.
Yes I do have an uplaod directory under files|civicrm and it is chmodded to 777. Any clues?

Nevermind. We managed to fix the issue by fixing the paths under global settings.
