cannot download ical file in IE
March 22, 2009, 07:08:53 pm
HI guys, my ical files on the event pages cannot be downloaded in IE, but ok in FireFox.
The error message is:
Internet Explorer cannot download ical from www.....com
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.

Does anybody have idea what's going on there?

Hi Aeszq,

Please post the version of civicrm that you are using, and the version of drupal/joomla that you are using so that we can help you troubleshoot the issue further.

Hi guys, I just found out the reason.
I use https link for the event page and that's why IE cannot download it.
When I turn off SSL link. it worked.
But I think I still need it works in secure link.
So could anybody give me some headsup?

Have you checked to make sure that you're using the latest copy of IE7, with all updates?
Have you also tried it on another pc that you own, to rule out the computer as being the issue?

and have you tried seeing if it works on the demo?

Ah! That makes much more sense to me now.
Do you have a valid SSL certificate installed on your site?
I had a similar issue with that until I tested it on a server with a working SSL certificate.

Are you able to publish the link to your ics? Also, when you access it from Firefox try making sure you have logged out of your site first. It could be that it's not available to anonymous users but you have cached credentials in firefox but not IE (in which case you need to look at your event permissions)

Yes, I think the certificate is working.
When I view certificate in IE, it says "This certificate is OK."

it looks like you're making changes to the site....

Error: Could not create directory: /var/www/crm.csf.com.au/sites/default/files/civicrm.
If you have moved your database from a development install to a production install and the directory paths are different, please set the column config_backend in the civicrm_domain table to NULL. You will need to reinitialize your settings in the production install.

Let us know when it's live again.

Actually IE isn't doing it now but it's not a good test without any events in it.
