CiviMail using external mail server?
March 23, 2009, 09:06:13 pm
Hi,

First off amazing project! I was recently turned onto this by a non profit client I host and I can think of tons of clients I have who could benefit from it. Now for the fun stuff. My server is a cpanel server and of course there is the exim issue for civimail or so it seems from forum reading and current requirements. I can setup postfix on another box or VPS I have available. Can I point civimail to an external machine like that fairly easily? Maybe there are just settings in CiviMail I need to adjust for using an external mail server. I am about to start the install but if this has been done already I would love pointers of how one can accomplish this.

Cheers,
TR

with the recent work on the php mail processor, you no longer need amavisd and hence the postfix integration. Exim should work just fine as a mailer :)

Check the civimail docs on the wiki
