Need API/configuration help
July 25, 2007, 02:40:20 pm
After trying to mess around with the API's myself, I've realised I need help. I need to implement a few API's to get site to work how I'd like. I don't have the time to go through the documentation, nor do I have time to spend on the IRC channel or reading forums to figure this out, so I'm gonna try to hire someone to do this. I'm using Drupal 5.1.

It's a relatively small site (With small budget - so don't charge me $1000!) but I can probably afford a fair price. Contact me ASAP for details!

My site will have 2 membership types "advisers" and "client". Advisers can have multiple clients, clients can have multiple advisers. I want to be able to display on a user's profile, a list of their "clients" or "advisers". I want to closely tie the CiviCRM profile to the Drupal profile (maybe by having a tab) since the Drupal Profile will have pictures, videos, links to blogs, other recent posts etc.

Project Specifications

Site Background: The site serves as a place for people to maintain business contacts. There will be basically 2 different types of people who use the site: Clients and Advisors.
Advisors will be paid memberships while clients have free memberships.(I have that part working fine) Advisors will have clients as their contacts, and will also have fellow advisors (colleagues) as contacts. So on an Advisor’s Drupal profile page, I want to be able to have a tab that says “My Clients” and a tab that says “My Colleagues.” The “clients” tab will simply list the name and user  id of that person (if you can do a picture, name and user id that would be great!) with a link back to their profile.
For Colleagues, picture (if possible – this will be a Drupal field so I don’t know if it can be done), Job Category (their specialty), name and link back to profile. If you can think of a better way to arrange all of this, that will be fine.

For Clients, they will have a “My Advisors” tab that will display picture (if possible), name, Job Category/Occupation with link back to profile.

For advisors, I want a client to be able to easily add them as an advisor after viewing their profile. So if a client searches for someone (in Drupal) that fits a certain criteria, they must be easily able to choose that person as an advisor and from there communicate with that person (phone, instant message etc). Of course as an advisor, you’d get some sort of notification that someone has added you as an advisor. I also want an advisor be able to add someone as a client.

Clients are not searchable, but advisors are.

<dlobo>so mon the drupal "my account" screen
<dlobo>you want another tab
<dlobo>giving for a advisor, his clients
<dlobo>and for a client his advisors
<dlobo>and these are relationships
<dlobo>in civicfm<E-man_>yes
<E-man_>and I also want the ability to easily add someone as an advisor
<E-man_>I may add a third relationship "colleague"
<E-man_>so advisors can have colleagues (also displayed on their profile)
<dlobo>the view part is quite easy
<dlobo>(2-4 hours work)
<dlobo>the "add" part is probably 2-3x more effort than the view part
<dlobo>so (6-10 hours or so). rough estimates
<dlobo>what org is this for?
<E-man_>that time is fine
<E-man_>its kind of like a place to keep business contacts
<E-man_>on a site like this, you'd be an advisor because you provide services
<E-man_>and you'd have colleagues you work with
<E-man_>a client will be someone you've worked for before
<E-man_>or provided services to
<E-man_>clients will reccommend u to other people (by telling them to join the site and search for you)
<E-man_>and they will also look for other advisors through you (and you will reccomended other people who are your colleagues
<dlobo>can u put a 1 page complete spec of what you need (basically this conversation) and your forum, and we can get our india team to spec it out and give u a number of hours and an hourly rate

I am not a script writer, but want to give some feedback:

When I read your specs the first thing I think about is Drupals Organic Group module and not CiviCRM. Did you consider that?
