Failed to connect to civismtp.uas.coop:20095
March 27, 2009, 04:39:31 pm
We have been unable to send mail from our Drupal install for a couple of weeks.  When trying to send any mail through Drupal, we get the following response:

Failed to connect to civismtp.uas.coop:20095 [SMTP: Failed to connect socket: Connection timed out (code: -1, response: )]

Any idea what the problem could be?  This seemed to just appear randomly. We hadn't made any changes to anything on our site.

Could this somehow be a hosting issue??

We need to send out promotional emails for an upcoming concert and are desperate to get this fixed. Our account name is twincitieswomenschoir.

Thank you.

it might be that your hosting provider is blocking all outgoing requests to port 20095.

you can check if thats the case either by contacting your provider or you can log in to the command line shell on your server and issue the following command:

telnet civismtp.uas.coop 20095

If you see a message like "Connected to civismtp.uas.coop." then the port is not being blocked and there's some other issue. otherwise the port is being blocked and you will have to contact your hosting provider about how you can make outgoing requests to port 20095.

regards,

Leyla
