Error Code while registering for an event
March 28, 2009, 10:22:35 am
Hello, I am using Civi CRM 2.2.0 on Joomla with BlueHost as my hosting company.

When i register for an event, i receive the following message:
A error occurred when CiviCRM attempted to send an email (via Sendmail). If you received this error after submitted on online contribution or event registration - the transaction was completed, but we were unable to send the email receipt.

This is probably related to a problem in your Outbound Email Settings (Administer CiviCRM » Global Settings » Outbound Email). Possible causes are:

•Your Sendmail path is incorrect.
•Your Sendmail argument is incorrect.
The mail library returned the following error message: sendmail returned error code 8

I have tested a mail from the admin portion of civiCRM and that work just fine....

Any Ideas?

If Send Test Email is working from Administer CiviCRM >> Global Settings >> Outbound Email - then a likely culprit is that the FROM email you have configured for this event (Online Registration config) is not a valid email address for your Bluehost account (and ISPs often block sending when FROM is not a registered email address with them).

If that's not the issue, then ask Bluehost to check their mail logs for more info - and try googling your exact error message.
