Why do I have to create a component folder?

I am wondering why the installation instructions tell you to put the CiviCRM zip file into the component folder inside the com_installer folder when there is no component folder. OK, I created one but it is confusing and maybe unnecessary.

You can't install the extension using the Joomla install browse > upload > install tool because it's too large a file. You need to use the install from directory.

That involves uploading and unpacking the package, and then using the install from directory with wherever you placed the unpacked files.

I typically use the /tmp/ directory off the root Joomla location, rather than the com_installer folder. But it doesn't really matter.
