after "successful" install, Administer CiviCRM screen comes up blank
April 01, 2009, 04:27:11 pm
Hi. Just downloaded CiviCRM for my Joomla 1.5 site. I uploaded, installed. I got a confirmation that it had installed correctly. Following your online instructions, I clicked on "Administer" to sync users with my Joomla contacts. I'm getting a blank page after I click on the Administer tab. Ideas? Suggetions?

Thank you very much!

check your apache error logs. this might give you and us a better idea of whats causing the error. If you dont have access to the logs, check with your hosting provider for info on how to get those logs

Nothing in the logs.

I did find this in your online documentation:

Quote
You must be logged in as a user with administer CiviCRM permission to complete these tasks. All configuration settings are accessed from the Administer CiviCRM page.

I have the admin role in Joomla. Does that mean I automatically have "administer CiviCRM permission" when I install your product? If not, what step am I missing?

Unfortunately I have same problem. What is wrong?

Thanks for any resolution.

Does anyone have an answer to this problem? It looks like support asked for Apache logs but did not offer any resolution. I have the same problem and can't find a solution anywhere.

A common cause of "blank screen" is insufficient memory. Your webserver log will most likely have an entry with the specific problem. You can also search this forum for other issues with "blank screen" and "memory".

check your memory_limit and max_execution_time settings in php.

you can ignore the documentation notes about permissioning -- it's not applicable to joomla

I set the memory_limit to 64M and max_execution_time to 600 as recommended, but Administer CiviCRM still comes up blank. My server seems to be configured correctly otherwise for CiviCRM and all the other tabs of the program come up fine. I've spent numerous hours on this problem and need a solution as this programs seems like a great fit for my client, but is unusable in this state.

I am using the current Joomla 1.5.12 with PHP 5.2.9 and MySQL 5.0.75.

If you've checked your apache logs and don't find any errors, than your best bet is to contact someone on the Professional Services page.
