Contact drop down box
April 01, 2009, 11:56:40 pm
Hello

on V 2.2 the contacts ajax search box doesn't work from this screen whereas on 2.3 it does. Is it something that should be logged for 2.2? Is there a patch? Or has the underlying search box been changed?

if i understand your point (type part of a name in and have a list appear below box) seems to work for me so long as i use letters that corresponds to some names in the contacts database. E.g 'a' works but 'j' doesn't

On the 2.2 link I'm only getting browser suggested names. On the 2.3 link I get ajax suggested names

Eileen - in 2.2 and prior we did only loaded dojo widget (ajax) features like the auto-complete quick search on civicrm pages (i.e. where civicrm/ is in the url). The user page is not "part of CiviCRM" in that sense - so you get a plain text field.

For 2.3 - we are migrating all ajax widgets to jQuery. At this stage it looks like the tentative approach is to keep ajax widgets active in CiviCRM blocks even when not in a Civi page. I think this is better - more consistent - so hopefully we won't find any library conflicts or other reasons not to. :-)

Cool - are you just using the jquery autocomplete? I looked for drop down autocomplete type stuff & the nicest one looked to be this

Not sure which one(s) kurund has been looking out / trying. Feel free to ping him about it (or we can all discuss and try and tweak real-time while you're here :-) ).
