CiviMail Embedded Image Problem
April 02, 2009, 04:10:51 pm
I’m running CiviCRM 2.2 on a Joomla 1.5.10 install.  I use the JCE 1.5.1 text editor.

I’m having problems with images I embed in CiviMail html messages.

When I create a mailing and add my logo or another image to the html message I see it in the editor.  However, when I send a test message or send the mailing recipients can’t see any of the embedded images.  They just get the little red x even after allowing pictures to download.

Below is the embedded image source from my logo. I copied it from an email I sent to myself.

<p><img style="vertical-align: top; float: right;" title="Logo" src="../images/logo210.jpg" alt="Logo" width="448" height="176" /></p>

When inserting the image I tried using www.domain.org/images/logo210.jpg instead of just ../images/logo210.jpg thinking that might help, but the source always reset to ../images/logo210.jpg.

Any suggestions about what I can do to successfully send emails that include my logo and other images?

Mike

Lobo,

I installed JCE as my default WYSIWYG Editor in the Global Conf. in Joomla.  I just assumed the Editor I saw in CiviMail was JCE since it is the Joomla default editor.

I too installed JCE with a global Joomla setting, like Mike, but it doesn't seem to have changed the editor used by civiCRM.

The behavior Mike describes occurs for *all* e-mails that arrive in my in-box, as it's the default setting of Outlook not to download images.

I too am having the same problem, although I'm using drupal 6.6 and civicrm 2.2.5. I'm at my wits end! I don't know why it refuses to maintain the full html path!!!

HELP!! I'm using the TinyMCE editor.

Ok, don't know why this fixes the problem, but when I switched to FCKEditor from TinyMCE, the problem went away. AND, not only that, it accepted the <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> tag with a linked stylesheet and didn't strip it like it did in the other editor.

Why does the tinymce editor do that?

Weird....

Have a look at http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,7709.msg34053.html#msg34053

This sounds like a similar problem (relative URLS)

GENIUS!!!

It worked!!

This is so brilliant! I'm so confused though, why would you EVER want to use relative paths when sending an email with embedded images? I mean...I can't see how that would even work....

Thanks again!!!
