Profile Problems
April 02, 2009, 07:16:15 pm
A variety of problems, using drupal drupal6-6.10, CiviCRM 2.2.1.

I have two profiles that I am using for two different user application forms and in the profile settings I have selected for "used for" "Profile", "Search Results", "User Registration". I have found that once a person has registered using one of the forms an admin user goes in to edit the contact information in the user record I am finding all the fields from both profiles are in there so when you go to save it, it complains about required fields which are left blank from the alternate profile that is not relevant to this contact/user.

I thought the solution to this problem was to until the "Used for" "Profile" setting but this made it so when I attempted to use the user registration forms it would give an back trace error.

How can I resolve this?

Thanks

Dave Greenberg

I'm not sure I'm following the particular combination of settings. Can you try and reproduce this on our public Drupal / CiviCRM demo?

um, I started to do this and then someone turned the language into swedish... woops. :P i'll try again later.

recreating it on the demo site is way to much work, maybe I can explain with direct links to my site.

http://getskilled.sydneycommunitycollege.com.au

I have two forms which require creating a drupal account and automatically put the person whom registers on either form into a group.

http://getskilled.sydneycommunitycollege.com.au/civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=1
http://getskilled.sydneycommunitycollege.com.au/civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=2

Once an administrator log's into civicrm and edits the contacts the fields from BOTH profiles are listed in the contact view and so if you edit it and attempt to save it the now combined forms of both profiles required fields complain.

The profiles need to remain seperate for the life on the contact, how do I achieve this?

Profiles and Custom Data can have different properties. When an admin views / edits a contact they see the custom data associated with the contact. You can change the settings on the custom field to make it "Not Required" and make it "Required" in the profile fields

yeah, I understand that I can turn on/off the required non require but is there a way to keep the contact information/profiles seperate.. so you do not see one inside the other?

or is it just a case of ignoring it.
