What happened to my event fees?
April 03, 2009, 12:33:49 pm
I was having trouble adding participants to a paid event, and upgrading from 2.2.0 to 2.2.2 fixed that.
All is not rosy, however.
Now, for this particular event at least, something is screwy with the event fees.  The fee should be $25 per person.  Going in to configure the event shows this is still the case.  There is only the one fee level for this event, and that is also reflecting if I try to edit the configuration.
But:  I just added 2 new participants, tried to reflect the fact that both have paid (over the phone), and instead, I get what you see in the image:

I don't see anything awry in the error logs, but also can't figure out where I would fix this.

The image is just a black box - is that what you're seeing? What page/form are you viewing when the problem occurs? New Participant Registration or ?? (providing the URL helps us know what you're doing). Are you using the basic Event Fees or a Price Set? Does registering participants for another event work properly?

Doh!  Sorry about the image.  Something odd happened apparently when I blanked out the names.  I'm adding a new one here.

The page where I see this is example.com/civicrm/event/search?reset=1&force=1&event=5&status=true
(Find Participants for this event.)  The event uses the basic event fee (no price sets), and it uses a profile to get the participant's first and last name.  For those who are paying directly online via CiviCRM/Paypal, everything seems fine -- the problem seems to be isolated to those who phone in, and then I'm putting them in myself.

I've cleared out the actual names, and noted that the bottom two individuals are the ones specifically having problems.  As you'll see in the image, there is one registered person (at the top of the image) for whom there is no fee information, then the two at the bottom do not show a fee level at all, and they show an incorrect amount for fee amount.

Ok - clearer now :-)

... and when you click Edit on one of the two problem rows, does the Event Level display have the correct information in it (fee level and amount). Also, when add these participants did you check the "Record Payment" box (to record the associated contribution/payment)?

NOTE: I just tried this both ways (Record Contribution yes and no) on a 2.2.2 install and the fee / fee level shows up properly in either case.

No, when I click Edit, the fee level information either disappears completely (in the example where it is missing altogether) (see the first image below), or is simply incorrect, with no apparently way for me to change it (as in the second image).  For the record, I have no idea where it came up with $273 from -- I don't have anything with that price tag on it.  In one sense, so long as they're all registered, I guess this doesn't matter, but it would be nice to have a simple way to match up the income from this event.

Really not sure what's happening here. Maybe you could set up an event like yours on the public demo and see if you can recreate the behavior. I've also asked someone else on the team to review this and see if they have any ideas (since I haven't been able to replicate the behavior).

Thanks.  I tried briefly on Saturday, but couldn't replicate the behavior.  I'm hoping to free up some time to try again later this week.

Just received another couple of checks in the mail. I was able to enter the first person correctly, without any problems.  Second person (paid for by the first person -- same check #) gave me this error:
Quote
warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /mnt/local/home/example.com/sites/all/modules/civicrm/CRM/Event/Form/EventFees.php on line 225.

Additionally, it did not fill in the fee level, and the fee amount shows as $279.

Then when I entered a third person (who also paid by check, but not the same check as #1 & #2 above), I got the same error, with the same screwy $279 fee amount.

We're trying to replicate on our side - Sunil on our team replicated the behavior on one machine, but hasn't been able to get it to happen consistently. We're still trying to figure it out.

mhm:

We were able to replicate this issue only once. Since you can replicate this issue consistently, if possible can you give us access ( drupal + ssh) to your install.
You can send the details to kurund@civicrm.org
