Hi,

Is it possible to set the reply to adress to a static adress?

For example:
postmaster@domain.com
instead of:
r.19.902.d32833039f4ba919@domain.com

Regards
Nils

If you just want people reply to postmaster@domain.com not r.19.902.d32833039f4ba919@domain.com, you can tick the check box Override VERP address? one step 3 of 5. However, you won't be able to track how many people replied your email.

There is a discussion here and I think that being able to have the email replies come back to the person sending the CiviMail is scheduled for v. 2.3 if I understand this right

and http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3903

Is there a way to have this checked by default?

It would be nice to be able to control the default setting.  In our case, because we have so many different people sending bulk email, the default of going back to the person sending the email would be best, otherwise we would have to change it each and every time, sometimes forgetting.

A little strange, but it seems like for our activist organizations we do not want to have bounce processing - instead we want the bad email address to keep reminding the person sending the email to either fix the address or remove it if necessary.  That said, we are working on a way to read the reply mail box, create a list of bad emails and flag a custom field that it is a bad email.  Strangely, the on-hold email field does not seem to be a field available for upload or for advance search (is available in search builder).  CiviCRM V 1.9

However, I can see how other organizations, might wish to process their bounces and replies in a collective pot and for them they would never (or rarely) wish to have the emails go back to the person sending the emails.

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying. I'm trying to make the long nasty reply-to go away so our emails don't get tagged as spam in people's inboxes. I thought the 'Override VERP' did that by putting the reply-to as the From address.

Unless you mean that using the From address as reply-to means bounces won't be automatically tagged as such by the system. In which case I guess we have a decision to make.

I'm not completely sure how this works, but I think the bounce process depends on a specific return mailbox.  So if we use our own reply addresses, I don't think the normal bounce processing can work.  Which is fine in our situation - although even for us, might be useful to do one full email with the bounce email address, get cleaned up and then try to keep up with new bad email addresses.

Of course I could be wrong about how this works.
