Downgrading Joomla! doesn't seem desirable, so...

How stable is the 1.8 build at this point?  I working on building/setting up CiviCRM in the backend.  The site is in production but CiviCRM is not...

We'd encourage you to download and test 1.8. We think its quite stable, but we also expect more issues to be filed as the number of folks who download and test it increase
