Email to Pay Later contacts
April 06, 2009, 09:14:55 pm
Hi Folks,

I just sent an email to a selection of Pay Later contacts.  I hit the Go button and hey presto - what happened?  I presume emails went out but what did they contain and where can I see them?  It seemed a bit sudden and I was expecting to head off to CiviMail to create a considered email etc etc.

I can't find the docs on this functions

Cheers

Are you using CiviMail to serve this functionality..?
If yes you can find detail reports of mailing under civimail dashboard where you can also get sent mail body, recipients details, etc ..
If not , you can create smart group of your search criteria

Pay Later contacts
, and use civimail to send mails to this group.

I have a smart group which collects pending pay later contributions.  If I click on the group and view the list I can select the members and under 'More Actions' there is an entry to Send Email to Contacts.  I used this and I have no idea what happened.  So my question is what happens when ths functionality is selected.

I appreciate that I am able to send email to a smart group using CiviMail and that's what I have done.  However I am still interested to know what happens undre the circunmtances described.

So my question is what happens when this functionality is selected.
If you use this functionality, you will get a email compose form where you can add mail body with tokens. And this composed mail will be sent to each selected contact and an activity of type "Email" get created.
You can find this activity under "Activity" tab of your contact and also specific activity under every recipient's "Activity" tab.
You can not get detail report of whether mails are delivered to contacts or not.
