We are promoting, supporting and implementing CiviCRM in the market of Dutch (social) housing corporations. One of the things we offer is a basic configuration. In this basic configuration we add a number of custom fields for Contacts, and perhaps these could be included in core CiviCRM. I'd be interested in feedback!

The suggestions are:

• For Individuals
• A field for a civil service number, we currently use the extern id field and modify the templates accordingly. This is a number that a Dutch individual gets and generally uses to identify him/herself in governmental situations (paying tax, receiving benefit etc.)
• A field for initials.
• A field for marital status
• For Organizations
• A field that holds the VAT number
• A field that holds a number that a company in Holland gets when it registers with the Chamber of Commerce. I am not sure if this occurs in any other country :-)
