Registration Issue with CiviCRM..
April 07, 2009, 04:37:52 pm
Thank You for Registering

An error occurred when CiviCRM attempted to send an email (via SMTP). If you received this error after submitting on online contribution or event registration - the transaction was completed, but we were unable to send the email receipt.

The mail library returned the following error message:
sendmail returned error code 8

This is probably related to a problem in your Outbound Email Settings (Administer CiviCRM » Global Settings » Outbound Email), OR the FROM email address specifically configured for your contribution page or event. Possible causes are:

Your Sendmail path is incorrect.
Your Sendmail argument is incorrect.
The FROM Email Address configured for this feature may not be a valid sender based on your email service provider rules.
Check this page for more information.

Thanks for your reply:

I have talked to bluehost regarding this issue.  Everthing is working from their side.

Bluehost made the following changes:
1) I went to your cpanel -> mail -> mx entry and set 'always accept' to 'yes' for terisikhi.org. It should now be working.
2) Increased the limit of sending message from 150 to 500.

But the issue is I am still getting the same issue.  They have told me to contact you.  It is more like CRM script issue in the code.

Using my FROM email addres: kartarpur@terisikhi.org, I am able to send emails or receive emails without any problem.

Also if I configure SMTP mail setting and then click on Save and test email settings.  It works.

Problem happens when I ask users to put any email and register to the event.

An error occurred when CiviCRM attempted to send an email (via SMTP). If you received this error after submitting on online contribution or event registration - the transaction was completed, but we were unable to send the email receipt.
The mail library returned the following error message:
Failed to add recipient: jsandhu2204@gmail.com [SMTP: recipient is not recognized (code: 550, response: Verification failed for No Such User Here Sender verify failed)]
This is probably related to a problem in your Outbound Email Settings (Administer CiviCRM » Global Settings » Outbound Email), OR the FROM email address specifically configured for your contribution page or event. Possible causes are:
Your SMTP Username or Password are incorrect.
Your SMTP Server (machine) name is incorrect.
You need to use a Port other than the default port 25 in your environment.
Your SMTP server is just not responding right now (it is down for some reason).
The FROM Email Address configured for this feature may not be a valid sender based on your email service provider rules.
Check this page for more information.

1. is this happening on a contribution or event page?

2. are you doing a contribution or event registration as:  jsandhu2204@gmail.com

3. if not, is that email set up as the "from" address configured for that civicrm page

4. can u also check your from email settings and ensure that it uses kartarpur@terisikhi.org rather than the gmail address

Event Registration.

2. are you doing a contribution or event registration as:  jsandhu2204@gmail.com

I am doing event registration as jsandhu2204@gmail.com
3. if not, is that email set up as the "from" address configured for that civicrm page

Email setup as a from is: kartarpur@terisikhi.org.

4. can u also check your from email settings and ensure that it uses kartarpur@terisikhi.org rather than the gmail address

FROM configured in CRM is kartarpur@terisikhi.org

jsandhu2204@gmail.com is user email address.. That's how it suppose to work.

I have tested with FROM and TO using kartarpur@terisikhi.org.  I am getting the same error message.  It is not a bluehost issue since they have taken care of everything.  They can't help me with CRM related issue.

You can test it on https://terisikhi.org and click on Contribution -> Event Information->Enter your email address and register it.  It will show the error message...
