I'm trying to set up a searchable directory of organizations, for which the detail information will display the organization's details AND the name of the leader (or leaders) of the organization. Leaders are in database as contacts and there is a relationship (in this case church<->rector) is set up between them. Is there a way to do this, or does the limitation against showing related data still hold (using version 2.1.4)?

I have the same problem...

Let me sumarize my questions, based on what I learned here...

1. Curently there is no way to expose relationship data, or any 1->n custom data through profile to the fronend ?
2. View2 itegration that was mentioned here works only for Drupal, are there any such modules for Joomla that you are aware of ?
3. If it would take me to write some custom code to expose the desired data to the frontend - what is the simplest way to do this (for temporary solution)? And what is the most proper way to do it (so it might become the part of civiCRM in the future). I'm not asking for a detailed solution but rather a general tips on how to start.
