Do Not Email / Cannot Forward Replies
April 09, 2009, 07:57:40 am
Hi there,

I have a couple of mail related problems I've been trying to solve for a few days without success.  I'm hoping someone will recognize the symptoms and can point me in the right direction.

The following 2 problems occur when using the "send email to contacts" feature:

1.)  Do Not E-Mail - When trying to send an email to contacts we get a message saying something like "there are 106 communication preferences that specify DO NOT E-MAIL."  The email still sends and seems okay.  In the database every contact has a value of 0 for do_not_email in the contact table.

2.)  Cannot forward replies.  If an email recipient replies to an email sent via "send email to contacts" the administrator receives the reply.  However, if the administrator tries to forward the reply she gets a 550 error message saying "No such user here."  When I asked her for the mail headers she said the headers were blank.

All the sending email addresses are hosted by the same company that hosts the website.  We're using Sendmail for the Outbound mail settings.

If anyone has advice on where to look next it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks very much in advance for any help!

Can you try to replicate this on http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org

IMO, you should use "Send Email To Contacts" for sending emails from logged in contact to group of contacts. Admin reply won't work.
