Multiple participants & e-mails
April 10, 2009, 09:19:45 pm
Hi there,

I just did a test on a new 2.2.2 install on multiple participants. I was looking at the e-mail behaviour. I registered Jack Hudson for an event with Luke Hudson as the secondary participant. Luke had no e-mail & I set it up to create Jack a Drupal account in the process. Then I registered Luke for a different event with Jack as the secondary recipient. I entered no e-mail for Jack. The dedupe rules were set to match on First & Last name and that part worked fine but Jack's e-mail address was overwritten to be blank rather than left alone. Obviously people who register other participants often leave the e-mail blank because they don't know it rather than because they don't have one.

NB - can't try on sandbox as error there right at this moment

extra NB - the behaviour I was hoping to find was that if no e-mail was entered but a match was made a confirmation would be sent to the contact based on the match

Actually, on reflection I'm disinclined to allow the e-mail entered as part of the multiple participant form to edit the contact's e-mail address anyway as there is no reason to think the person filling in the form on behalf is choosing the best e-mail address for that field. They could be putting in one that suits them just for that registration (e.g. their own address)

OK - I just went into Jack Hudson's contributions & confirmed the pay later contribution for $120 for his & Luke's enrolment but ONLY one of the event confirmations was confiirmed - Luke's is still pending -
