Beta 1.8 10594 issues
July 27, 2007, 01:20:36 pm
Hi,

I just upgraded to CiviCRM 1.8.beta.10594 (civicrm-1.8.beta.10594-joomla-php4.zip). Here are some observations:

1) couldn't find any civicrm.settings.php files in the distro. Just copied over my old ones from the alpha.

2) CiviCRM  » Administer CiviCRM  » Global Settings » Settings - Addresses displays this error

Please correct the following errors in the form fields below:
      * Address Standardization features require PHP version 5 or greater.

Upshot is that you can't save the res of the fields and I never touched Address Standardization, all the fields are empty

3) CiviCRM  » Administer CiviCRM  » Find Duplicate Contacts - gives this error

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/Admin/Page/Dedupefind.tpl" in /home/bertie/public_html/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

My resource URLs work with everything else...

4)  CiviCRM  » Administer CiviCRM  » Duplicate Contact Rules » Individual - Edit Rule
redirects to this page (domain changed)

http://www.domain.com/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/deduperules&action=update&id=1

and throws this error
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')', expecting '(' in /home/bertie/public_html/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Admin/Form/DedupeRules.php on line 100

all this is built on:

Database Version:       4.1.22-standard
PHP Version:    4.4.4
Web Server:    Apache/1.3.37 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/4.4.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635.SR1.2 mod_ssl/2.8.28 OpenSSL/0.9.7a
WebServer to PHP interface:    apache
Joomla! Version:    Joomla! 1.0.12 Stable [ Sunfire ] 25 December 2006 01:00 UTC
User Agent:    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6

Sorry haven't got time to check out the demo site with these at the moment...the pubs open! :P

1: see civicrm.settings.php.sample in /civicrm

2: I think a part of the answer is in:
Please correct the following errors in the form fields below:
      * Address Standardization features require PHP version 5 or greater.

see: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Requirements. The server requirements are not only for Drupal.
You have php4, probable is that you need php5

3 and 4: I dont know, could be related to point 2

a quick update.

issue 1) I just looked in the distro again and the civicrm.settings.php.sample file is there but it doesn't get copied to the joomla install.
issue 2) OK so you need php5 for Address Standardisation but if your not using it you should at least be able to save the other settings.

templates/CRM/common/civicrm.settings.php.sample.tpl  is being copied to joomla install.

This was a bug  http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2139.  You can check http://fisheye.civicrm.org/changelog/CiviCRM/?cs=10616 for fix.

Kurund,

Thanks for the fix on 2139! I tried it out by updating the files refenced in fisheye but I think there are other changes that have been made that preceed 2139 that would also need to be made to my install. I can wait for the next tarball as I can just edit the prefences I need direct to the db.

Re the civicrm.settings.php.sample file. Why does it copy to templates/CRM/common/civicrm.settings.php.sample.tpl? I thought it would be copied to the two locations where it would need to be edited.

Any ideas on issues 3 & 4?

Cheers, Henry

Note that in v1.8, we create the civicrm.settings.php on the first page load of civicrm. This is because of Joomla 1.5 compatibility reasons (1.0 and 1.5 execute different functions)

I've fixed the issues associated with 3 and 4 (php5 -> php4 translation issues). This will be available in the next beta early next week

Nice one Donald! I'm constantly amazed at the speed with which this project evolves and fixes issues.

(I also think that this is another strong argument for putting the last nails in the php4 support coffin. If my host doesn't get their act together soon I'll be shopping for another reseller hosting package!)
