Search not returning results; problems with relationships
July 27, 2007, 07:04:47 pm
New install, Joomla 1.5, civicrm 1.8 beta, php 4.

When I go to find contacts and search, I get no returns even though I have 7 records.

Also, when I attempt to add a relationship for a contact, I get this error

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
Could not find valid value for cid

Also, a couple of other notes:

If you make a profile with preferred communication method without modifying, it only displays the numbers not what they mean.

Preferred Mail format should really be preferred eMail format.

Even though SMS is enabled on the phone type list, it does not show up on the drop down for phone in the profile.

Also, I've never enabled it before, but when you use the IM screen name field, shouldn't there be some information about the service associated with it in the display of the profile?

Elin - Thanks for continuing to test 1.8 under J 1.5! Replies inline:

Tested both of these on our QA J 1.5 / 1.8 beta install and could not reproduce. Lobo advised that some 1.5 related things have been fixed since the first beta was built - so perhaps you can try them again in the next build.

This is a bug for 1.8 when "previewing" a Profile (I assume that's where you saw it). The field displays correctly in my tests in both J 1.5 and Drupal when actually using the profile. I've filed an issue here: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2143

That makes sense to me (surprised no one has pointed this out earlier). I've changed it on the view and edit screens - will be included in next beta.

In the sample data, 'SMS' is an Activity Type. The "types" of phone numbers are not configurable - but are a fixed list (Phone, Mobile, Fax, Pager). I think this makes sense, as you send an SMS to (generally) a 'mobile' phone.

This is also a bug w/ the Profile PREVIEW - it works as expected when actually exposing the profile as an input form (based on your original fix request :-) - http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-1578). I've re-opened so it gets fixed in preview mode.
