Clicking Register link on Event, how to get it to switch to https secure mode?
April 22, 2009, 11:12:43 pm
Hi there here is a good example page:

http://irest.us/drupal/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=1

When it's time to register and click the "Register Online" link at the bottom the next page is all about the credit card.  Shouldn't the link be "https" at that point?  Is there a convenient or easy way to make that happen or something I have missed?

https SSL is still a good idea right?  I mean this is still relevant and important to have a SSL certificate and use https when credit cards are involved, or am I out of date?

Where is {$registerURL} defined?  I have done a GREP on the entire CRM/Event directory and turned up nothing.  If there is a setting somewhere where this register link can be made to use SSL (https://) please let me know, I've search in all the places I can think of and not found anything...would be nice if I could use that SSL certificate I bought.  :-)

Code: [Select]
bash-3.2$ grep -r registerURL . | grep -v svn
./CRM/Event/Page/EventInfo.php:                    $this->assign( 'registerURL', $url    );
./joomla/site/views/Events/tmpl/default.php:            <strong><a href="{$registerURL}" title="{$registerText}">{$registerText}</a></strong>
./joomla/site/views/Events/tmpl/register.php:            <strong><a href="<?php echo this-> $registerURL ?>" title="<?php echo this->$registerText ?>"><?php echo this->$registerText ?></a></strong>
./templates/CRM/Event/Page/EventInfo.tpl:            <strong><a href="{$registerURL}" title="{$registerText}">&raquo; {$registerText}</a></strong>

so basically defined in: CRM/Event/Page/EventInfo.php

Awesome, I grep'd for $registerURL (with the $) so it never found it.  Sigh.  Thanks.

There was a lot easier way to fix this, thanks Lobo.

I just turned on "Force SSL" for the Event and Donation pages.
