I think I found a bug.... where do I report it?
April 23, 2009, 06:51:10 am
I was using Civi 2.0 and upgraded to 2.2.2  Now It seems that I have an issue with profiles and custom data.

The Issue:
I have 2 sets of custom data, Membership (includes, National Member number, State member number, Chapter) and Medals and awards (this is a multiple type category).  When created, "Membership" was set to "Used for all contacts".  Now If I try to add it to a profile, It does not show up in the "Contacts" but rather, it Household, and Organization.

I have a profile that was setup before the upgrade, and the fields are there, but if you edit them, they do not show up.  I get the same behavior as mentioned above.

Now if you look at an individual that was imported before the upgrade, you can see that the custom data is there, on the summary screen.  The custom data works just fine using the advanced search.  But If you use a search built off a profile, then you get seemingly random results.

So....  what should I do to fix this?  And is this a bug, and if so where do I report it.

Thanks

Hi,
Have you searched the forums to see if anyone else has had the same problem? If you haven't done that, I suggest starting there.

If you have done that and didn't find anything useful, the next thing to do is to see if you can replicate it on the 2.2 demo, which is here: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/.

If you are able to replicate it on the demo, you can file an issue report here: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM?report=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.project:roadmap-panel.

hope this helps you,
Cynthia

Cynthia,

I can not replicate it in the demo..... but it is reproducible on my site.... I wonder if something got corrupted during the upgrade process...

Any suggestions on how to fix the issue?

Hmmm... there was an issue with corrupt profiles, but that was fixed in 2.1.2: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3749 and I see you are running 2.2.

I can think of a way you can get around this, but i think that is not the best solution as if something is corrupt, it should be fixed.

Can someone with more technical/schema expertise please help here?

Thanks,
Cynthia

Cynthia,

Humm...

I went from 2.0 straight to 2.2.2 so I did not go through the 2.1 process.... maybe this caused the issue....

Do you think that I should run the script that was listed in the post?

I am not even sure where to look to see if something is corrupted....

You mentioned that you had an idea about what I can do.....what was it?

Cynthia,

I have done a few things...and it seemed to have worked...

First thing I did was delete and reupload the civicrm 2.2.2 files...

Next using phpmyadmin I deleted the last entry in the civicrm_uf_field table and now everything seems to be working fine.  Not sure what happened, or why it is working now....
