CiviCRM + Joomla 1.5 + BIRT ???
April 30, 2009, 10:21:53 pm
Hello,
can someone tell me what is the current status of using BIRT with CiviCRM?

* I am looking for documentation that explains how these BIRT and CiviCRM are integrated (if they are integrated)???

* If they are integrated, then can BIRT be used to create / run reports on both CiviCRM and Joomla data? How about other My SQL data?  How about Postgres? ... yes, we have all this and more on our servers.

Many thanks for helping me understand how BIRT and CiviCRM can be used together.

Regards,
Mike

We have stopped using BIRT for reporting. We are working on a simplified reporting system

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/CiviReport+-+The+Return

however since BIRT is a generalized report writer, you can still use it and connect to the mysql database etc. Note that we did not have any code integration with BIRT

Thanks Sr Lobo.

Bummer on two fronts:
1) I was hoping for  a 2-for-1 in that by choosing CiviCRM would solve my reporting question
2) I noticed lots of future tense verbs in the link you provided

Thanks for the reply....

I don't think it's such a bummer  :)  civi report on trunk looks very cool and much easier than BIRT and it won't be too long before it is out.  if this is a pre-installation question then by the time you get to needing reports from civi, you can get a version with civireport (it's scheduled for around september now).

what kind of reports do you want?
