URL for saved advanced searches
May 02, 2009, 05:43:07 pm
I know that you can pass search parameters for membership search via a URL (like this: civicrm/member/search?reset=1&force=1&type=6) and that is really handy for providing shortcuts to users.

Can you also do the same for a standard contact search, or for an advanced search based on custom data?

Is the process for doing this documented somewhere?

Why is the force=1 necessary in this URL, and does it have any other functions?

Thanks,
Michael

This will directly give you search selector. It will give you same result that you will get if you hit Search button.

Thanks Kurund,

Can you point me somewhere that references the parameters I can pass to http://test.vawcvs.org/civicrm/contact/search/advanced?

Okay, this is very easy. Just see the instructions for smart groups:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Smart+Groups

In short, you perform a search, then click on the "select all contacts" radio after the search. Then pull down the "more actions" menu and select "New Smart Group." Give your group a name.

Then go to: Manage groups.

Find your new group in the list and click on the "members" link. That URL is your saved search custom URL that returns dynamic results based on the criteria of the original search.

On the groups page you can easily tell the difference between static and dynamic "groups" because dynamic are labeled, "smart."
