Creating registration forms with standalone
May 04, 2009, 10:56:37 am
Hi there,

I would like to use the standalone version in conjunction with a nice light-weight CMS called SkyCanvasBlue. Is it tricky to put registration forms for events or mailing list signup forms onto external platforms such as my thirdparty CMS? Any instructions anywhere for this?

Thanks,

As an alternative I was going to use the RSS feed to put links to event registration on an external website but I've found the RSS feed is only available to admin when logged in. Why is this not a public feed.

Is there anyway to make this feed public?

The RSS feeds have "view event info" permission. If the public can view event information, they should also be able to see the RSS feed

not sure it makes a lot of sense to expose the RSS feed, but not the event info (since they are the same page). If you have a use case for this scenario please describe it

I am using the standalone version of CiviCRM. I want to publish a list of events with links to registration on a separate website. I would assume that the RSS feed would be the perfect way to do this, using a nice rss2html script.

after you create the profile, just got to the CiviCRM profiles section under admin and click the 'standalone' link of the profile you want to use. It will take you to a page to simply copy and paste the HTML code to embed the form/profile.

How do you get to this section?  I am using standalone 3.1 beta 4 and con not figure out how to get events to appear within our custom public site.  The admin area works great but how to show events and allow for registrations on the public side?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Sorry for the lack of clarity in my post!  We have since found the profile management area of the standalone admin and I have been using the code snippet copy function with success.  The other part of my question was how to show a listing of the events created from the admin area of CiviCRM to the public side of the site without having a user stumble into the administrative area of Civi.

I hope this is clear!  We are currently assessing whether a non-profit should be set up with the standalone or move their web site to Joomla or Drupal.  We would prefer to have their visitors log in and interact with the site that they already have and give their staff access to the admin area to control the CiviCRM content.

You should be able to expose an RSS or HTML listing of events to anonymous users using the links in the icons at the top of the CiviEvent Dashboard.

These will look something like this:

http://example.org/civicrm/standalone/index.php?q=civicrm/event/ical&reset=1&page=1&html=1
http://example.org/civicrm/standalone/index.php?q=civicrm/event/ical&reset=1&page=1&rss=1

You may need to update the Access Control settings on your site to include 'view event info' for the 'Anyone' role. You can do this from Administer >> Manage >> Access Control >> Manage Core ACLs
