So far I am very impressed with CiviCRM, however, there's some billing functionality which I either cannot find or think may not exist. Can someone advise.

I would like to be able to create orders, invoice clients and receive payments (paypal will do for now) on the fly. For example, I would like to go to a clients page and click 'add new order' then send or print an invoice for this order. The client can then choose to click a link on the invoice to pay online or send a cheque in the post.

I find it difficult to believe that these basic billing features dont already exist. Please advise.

If not, has anyone built a custom extension for this?

Hmm your needs and CiviCRM goals are a bit different

If you want to see ordering / invoicing / collecting payments workflow, you will need to add it as a custom module and/or use some other system
