Error: Could not create directory: when moving test to production site
May 10, 2009, 04:00:26 am
We had our Camp Cooinda test site in a /v6 subdirectory of our html folder and upgraded successfully to Drupal 6 and Civi 2.2.2 (from Drupal 5 and Civi 2.0.2).

However, when we tried to move everything back to the html root, we're running into errors. We have definitely changed the civicrm.settings.php file in sites/default and before we moved we updated the Base URL in Civi Admin.

However, when we enable the CiviCRM module, we lose access to Drupal admin and login page and get the error message:

Error: Could not create directory: /**/**/campcooinda.asn.au/html/v6

Something we haven't found is still refering to the subdirectory /v6 where we had the test site running?

We've been looking at instructions here:
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC21/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location

and have tried this step as well:
Quote
If you have moved your database from a development install to a production install and the directory paths are different, please set the column config_backend in the civicrm_domain table to NULL. You will need to reinitialize your settings in the production install.

We can't get to the point where we're able to reinitialise the settings?

What have we missed that is still looking back at the old path settings?

thanks
Phil

most likely you still have the v6 directory mentioned in civicrm.settings.php. can you double check and go a search for v6

thanx

Thanks in no small part to Lobo, our issue is fixed.

It appears we had not completed step 5 (reset config_backend) of these instructions correctly:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC21/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location

We went through all the other steps in the docs previously also, but the reset was the clincher.

The final step was to rebuild the menus.

As lobo said, reading the docs carefully is important!

Happy to assist others if you have issues.

Thanks again lobo,

Geoff
